"We all shop for the advice we want to hear." Yeah, i remember sitting in the aisle of Vromans's and pulling all of the "should I get divorced" books off the shelves, looking for the one book that would tell me YES, leave him. So many books telling me to stay and work it out! But finally, I found one that said it's time to go and of course that was the only book I paid any attention to. Thank God for that one book! Anyway, good on you to research the Other Side of cholesterol and maybe perhaps change your mind on that little glorious statin. Also, wow, you spent an hour arguing about how to put the beans in your coffee maker. I get arguing about the right way to put plates in a dishwasher (the way I do it, obviously), but i can't figure out how there's more than one way to put beans in a coffee maker. New things to ponder!
I love Erin Foley! She does a podcast with Arden Myrin and Paget Brewster on “The Bachelor” and it is literally the only reason I watch the bachelor and it’s worth it! Anytime anyone mentions Steven Seagal I HAVE to tell them about the podcast episodes about him by these 2 amazing comedians Gareth Reynolds and Dave Anthony called “The Dollop”. We all know what a horrible person. Steven Seagal is, but you really have no idea the depths of how despicable he actually is until you listen to this- in fact he is SO DISGUSTING they had to make it in THREE PARTS!!! It is a travesty that this guy is not sitting in jail. Probably not for everyone and probably not for you Julia but I had to share.
Love these Saturday updates! Your life is so interesting. And I like your attitude toward life in general. I tend to be tense and worried. When I absorb your personality and life events, it provides a valuable perspective and a reminder to chill out and enjoy the ride.
Makes me miss old landlines without caller ID. (Well, until the invention of telemarketers). Jesus, nowadays you have to text someone first to set up an actual phone call. 😩
Love these Saturday dispatches, and I figure you must be waking up at 5AM each morning.
I still think statins are bullshit, everyone I know that’s gone on them has some awful side effect story.
Isn't Stephen Segal a "spiritual leader" now? Someone wrote an essay about going to a weekend retreat that he led. I think the essay was by the wonderful David Rakoff.
Can't wait to hear about the Sound Bath, Julia. Love these updates--love you!
I laughed.
That was GREAT. You shoulda told the Leno story at the Geffen. I bet he would have liked it.
