A few things that I have learned as I've done Keto. I try not to use a lot of the low carb candies and products on the market. I am not just Keto, I am a diabetic and since I began using a CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor, Freestyle Libre 2) I have found many still raise my blood sugar significantly. But I still like a few sweets:) A few things I rely on, liquid sucralose or EZ Sweetz ( I buy it on amazon, about $25 for the generic) PECANS! Pecans are hi fiber and the lowest carb nuts that I like. I buy the 2 lb package of organic pecans at Costco. I melt a tablespoon of butter or coconut oil in the microwave and add a tablespoon of cinnamon (Costco) and mix with 1/2 to 1 cup pecans and about 10 drops of liquid sucralose. I like to microwave about 30 seconds and stir. So good, like a spiced nut mix and it doesn't raise my blood sugar at all. Costco also has Sprouted pumpkin seeds, also very low carb. For a more savory snack I mix about 3/4 cup with a tsp of soy sauce and a tsp of Worcestershire sauce and microwave for 45 seconds to a minute. Stir and snack:) I am in the Portland OR area, Franz bakery has a several no carb bread products that are pretty good substitutes . A white bread, seeded bread, hot dog buns, hamburger buns and English muffins. The seeded bread and English muffins do raise my blood sugar more but they are good:) They are not perfect but it is nice to have a hot dog or hamburger occasionally:) The liquid sucralose is great in coffee and tea too:) Enjoy!
Letting Go of God was also very significant for me. With that show, you held my hand as I made the transition from tentative agnostic to unapologetic atheist. Thanks for that.
How demoralizing is Netflix?! I quit them some time ago, so their rejection is my convenience. I had a hard time with yesterdayβs diet? post, just anticipating all thatβs involved in, again rejiggering, my approach to food. But with a few hours to restore myself a bit, I know I want to/ donβt want to revise my approach to carbs. Your enthusiasm for substack is contagious! David
Julia! Great as always! So much fun to hear your take on things and what you're up to! Busy busy day tomorrow - gonna be hot - hope you have a cute hat! If not, get one at the Rose Bowl - a place I'd always wanted to go! π That little poem you read by Emily Dickinson, written on an envelope hit me - zing! In the heart. Never read her. I may have to! There was something else I was gonna respond to, but I've already forgotten! Ack! Til next time! ππ
I would almost definitely buy a "Gertrude, stop!" t-shirt.
Put it on Substack and make sure to jet us all know itβs there!!!

Build a following by releasing/promoting on Substack first.
Sorry about the Netfliks rejection. I am loving sitting with my coffee with you on Saturday mornings.
You know Sal Stack got that name Sal Stack because Sal Stack got that cake.
