A fun update, and I can relate to the (perhaps slightly guilty) pleasure in watching dated films that do not stand up well to evolving and better human sensibilities.

Although I resent a lot of old Disney princess stuff, and generally shielded my daughter from idolizing the white princess archetype, even through Frozen in which special powers and beauty still flow from the privileges of birth instead of from hard work, practice and merit… I like me some Three Amigos with Martin Short, Chevy Chase, and Steve Martin. Kind of a Western with cringe Mexican characters, and the white guys end up being truly the most cringeworthy stereotypes.

Sew like the wind, old woman!

You are a treasure! I go to Franklin regularly with my son or/and with friends. It is one of my favorite spots. You have to try the Nancy Hoover Outlook hike because there is a lot of shade. Perfect for the summer! I just discovered you here. Thank you we're making our lives so much better with these weekly gifts!

As always, so fun to hear of your adventures. But, why I am writing today is to ask if you are willing to give out the name of your Ohio tech support person.

I learned my beloved tech guy, one of the sweetest men ever, had died, when I reached out to get some help recently. It was a tremendous shock, he was not old by anyone's account, but I still need a tech person to help me. Being from Indiana originally, I have a bias towards trusting midwestern folks. I can inquire locally, Seattle is chock full of these helpful types, but I thought I would ask here first, and save myself some rolling eyes from my daughter's group. Yay or nay, I'm still a fan!!

I, too, am interested in contacting your computer help person! I don’t know anyone who could assist me with my computer clean-up, etc. How might we get this contact from you? I am new to sub stack. I am so happy to be seeing you every Saturday! Thank you!

Even your "not so funny or fun" commentaries are golden. Thank you... I look forward to them every week! I've started reading The Book of Charlie by David Von Drehle about the author's neighbor who died at 109! It was recently recommended by my high school English teacher, David Dansky, so I feel compelled and rather honored to take on this reading "assignment". (I'm 60.). :)

Lovely, as always. Thanks for sharing. Sincerely, it's a real palette cleanser in comparison to the n u t s c r a z y our side - their side News Speak of the day which leaves you thirsting for a little Soma to wash it all down with at the end of the night. --- Hey, what about Brave New World? Huxley and also a little Orwell?--- Down And Out In Paris--- ? I believe Huxley was your neighbor for awhile... ? Just a thought ...

Julia! I'm catching up and just listening to this post--I LOVE Anne of Green Gables and I've been reading around and about it in all of the books. The characters are so well-drawn. You get that satisfaction of a novel where an enemy becomes a friend and friends forced to be enemies, but with this gentle, sweet goofy girl at the center who can change anybody's mind. It's great storytelling, and really well-written! I went to Prince Edward Island and bought a straw boater with red-head pigtails and also an Anne of Green Gables shot glass. I will send you a picture of me serving cherry cordial to Diana, played by my dog. Sadly, "The Haunted Trail" is now a golf course, but the house is there, and PEI is a beautiful place in the world...
