Yes! I now know as much about iMovie as your 6th grader, and you will see my handiwork. Kathy Griffin's Lunch/Old Notebooks/Hollywood Bowl/A Possible Hat
Ooh ooh, by chance did Nancy Goslee Powers do your landscape design? I studied her work when I went to school at UCLA for landscape architecture. Even though I live in Montana now, I'm still influenced by her.
Thank you, Julia! Went to the first of the Ozu films on Friday on your recommendation: BRILLIANT! Cannot stop thinking about his take on men in Japan in the 50s, women’s evolution through that time too. And the kimonos...! So thank you so much for reminding us all what a gentle genius he was. Can’t be there this Friday with you but it will be fantastic for you, I’m certain.
I'm so glad! YAY! I influenced someone to watch Ozu. That makes me sooooo happy. And yes, the kimonos. If I had the gumption of Margaret Cho, I would go around in Kimonos. But I suppose someone would accuse me of appropriation. And that might be an appropriate reaction! Anyway, very glad you watched. They can be addictive, those films.
It’s wonderful to see Kathy Griffin, though gradually and by extreme necessity, reemerging cautiously. Rosie talks about, as a kid, imagining that stars hung out together all the time. Your Kathy salon videos give that comforting sense.
I'm so glad you liked that. I really love Kathy, although we have gone through some bad patches in the past. But I appreciate her to no end! And I'm so happy for her now, she is starting a new comedy tour called "Uncanceled." I think I'm going to go to Vegas and see her on Oct. 6th.
Thank you for pointing me to that. I didn't know there was a 70th anniversary release of Tokyo Story. I always think that if I found out I only had a few months more to live, I would spend it watching Ozu movies, and Tokyo Story is one of his best. My favorite is Early Summer. Then Late Spring. Then Tokyo Story. I think that is the order I'd put my own favorites in.
that was really fun! the imovie add-on at the end totally worked. love the pan from vivaldi to the moon, too. are you gonna go from fiction writer to cinematographer?!
You can do it! I did have a hired person show me for about an hour. I remember about 3% of what he taught me. But even that 3% allowed me to tack on the videos. Well, that and the help of my husband, who really doesn't know iMovie either, but is a better computer guessing person, so his instincts are usually successful. ANYWAY, learn it! You can. It is really a great app
They are tiaras! And she says she has about 20 more of them, those are just the ones out on display. She says she got them from judging drag shows. It's so funny to me that she has tiaras. ON DISPLAY. Ha.
Glad to hear that your remodeling is complete. Congrats! Would love a tour.
Yeah, I want to do a tour! I want to organize my books first though. That might take a while. xoxo
Ha, I guess so.
BTW, did you get my email I gave you last week?
Genesis, Ulysses, and The rights of man. Hmm... Anyway I wanna see a tour of the house.
I love that you like that! I have my favorite books around, and place them behind me when I write.
❤️❤️❤️ Great job on the video! Love Kathy’s closet!
Would love to see your finished remodel. It’s so cool to see what’s possible in smaller spaces❤️❤️❤️
I'll do it, just have to arrange the books better, then I will.

No, but Powers sounds interesting! She is Nancy Knapp of Weeds Garden & Bloom.
Hmmmm.....JS introduces an Ozu film....
If you discover that somebody made a video of that, I would love to watch it.
I was actually thinking of bringing a tripod up to the stage and filming it myself. Would that be too weird? Maybe. Stay tuned.
Amazing Substack!
TIM!!! You know I love you most of all! I'm glad you watched. xoxo

HAHA! Yes, look at me, the filmmaker!

Turn Every Page, I can’t wait to see this. I am a huge Edith Wharton fan. I think she was a genius!
I feel the same about Edith Wharton. And yes, watch that documentary. I want to watch it again.
Good job on adding the vids. I love your descriptions of Kathy Griffin lunches. My offer of iMovie help still stands 😁
Okay Amanda, I think I do need your help if you will give it! I will try to contact you through Substack.

HAHA!
Your Griffin Galas are so damn cool! And so many people I admire are in that picture! AHHH!
Hemant! I'm so glad you commented. Yes, I feel the same about those people. It was fun to do the little video. I'm going to keep doing that.
Success with the iMovie add-ons! Congrats! You're giving me courage to learn that %$@#! program myself!

I love that app. Have used it happily for 2 years
A house tour would be great. Were those ... crowns ... in Kathy Griffin's closet? Or maybe tiaras?

If you have tiaras, might as well display them!
