Right on Julia! You captured it so well. we can't extricate ourselves from our own biological impulses and this is why many of us women are so dam confused by the feminist movement. BTW, this is Kim Jaffe from your Scott Howard days when I was his assistant with WMA....It's so good to see you!
Yeah, you nailed it. Feminism is an act. Women, all women, live for men to want them, to lust after them, to serve them, to control them, to master them. They just can't be honest enough to admit it.
Well, I disagree. I don't think feminism is an act. I just think it's complicated and show biz and film really can bring out the worst in some people, even when they think they're acting in an empowered way. Actually, now that I read your response, I can't tell if you are being sarcastic. But anyway, I'm taking your response at face value.
In case you are not being sarcastic, Humdeedee...I live for the day when I will be respected for the social activism work I do -- which excludes masters, sexual aggression, and expectations of perfected beauty. And that’s my honest truth!
I found you! I missed you, Julie Sweeney! My favorite one-woman-show was God Said, Ha! (And I've seen many one-woman-shows. Dang were they over produced in the80s. Even I had one.) Anywho. This was hilarious. I felt like I was having a coffee with a hilarious friend. Looking forward to your next rants!
I'd love to know who chose the films they showcased and what criteria they supposedly used. I think that would provide some insight (and help frame what went wrong and why). I Googled it, but couldn't find the event online.
Hey isn't a rant supposed to be a kind of random aimless... rant? This was powerful and insightful and wonderful.
Wonderful, Julia! you are so smart and clever and I am not even considering the fact that you have breasts.
Brilliant, hilarious, and worst of all...true! More rants please!
Yup.
As the kids say: THIS.
Hilarious!!
Excellent!

Thank you, blessed woman. You skillfully made the wild, unending confusion perfectly okay and I howled while you did it! Please rant on. Often.
